Watercolor, as the name suggests, is a water-based paint and is more difficult to learn compared to Acrylic and Oil paint. Due to its transparency, it is difficult to change or fix something. Contrary to other painting mediums, Watercolor is applied light to dark. It needs to be layered starting with the lightest color and then building it up to the darkest shade. It is essential to learn how to properly use the brushes as well as estimate the amount of water to use. More water makes the paint more spreadable and transparent while less water gives the paint a thicker, heavier look. However, if you use too much water, the paint will bleed together and will end up looking diluted. At Artfully Yours, the instructors guide students through the process showing them how to create beautiful pieces of art.
Watercolor Paint is one of the most challenging mediums to use in the art world. Gathering experience in a multitude of mediums prior to using Watercolor will directly influence an artist’s success in using this medium.
