Laura was born and raised in a small town in southern British Columbia. She later moved to Kamloops, BC and attended Thompson Rivers University where she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree with a Fine Art elective. Laura learned the old masters technique in drawing, painting, and sculpture at Artistic Statement Gallery and School of Fine Art in Victoria, BC.
During her time there, she worked as an art instructor and found that she enjoyed helping fellow artists develop their skills, creativity, and confidence. She later went on to open her own School of Fine Art in Langford, BC where she taught for 3 years before moving to Sherwood Park.
Laura’s artwork is detailed and colorful. Although she also does abstract, she tends to lean towards more realistic work with a painterly technique. Her work has been displayed in multiple galleries in the Victoria, BC area as well as at 501 Gallery in Sherwood Park, AB.
Joan Hill owned and operated an art school and gallery in Victoria, BC for many years. She has exhibited and sold her artwork at many galleries in Canada including Victoria and Vancouver, BC as well as Edmonton, AB. Her paintings are lively, gestural compositions of color, form, and movement.
